James McCarthy is an accomplished educator, consultant, and workforce strategist based in Worcester, Massachusetts, with experience in workforce development and organizational learning. A graduate of Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester State University, James McCarthy holds an associate degree in general studies and a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, respectively, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He later completed an MBA in human resource management from Fitchburg State University and a doctor of health sciences in global health from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. His doctoral research addressed burnout among resident physicians and healthcare workers.
Mr. McCarthy has worked in talent development roles across several industries, including biopharma, higher education, and financial services. His past employers include AbbVie, Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Sumitomo Pharma America, and UMass Chan Medical School, where he contributed to training design and learning systems. He currently serves as a senior learning consultant with Alden Credit Union and teaches part-time at Anna Maria College and Quinsigamond Community College.
James McCarthy has been recognized for his instructional excellence and research, as well as his service-driven leadership. A recipient of multiple academic honors and an Eagle Scout, he is an active member of several professional organizations, such as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Association for Talent Development (ATD), and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). Outside of his work, Mr. McCarthy enjoys restoring antique engines, deep-sea fishing, and woodworking.
